Tailor provides near instantaneous, seamless cutting and splicing of any video and audio material stored in a compressed format. The Tailor plug-in provides significant opportunities to improve the speed and quality of many production workflows, and affords new efficiencies in operations for upstream functions such as bulk tape ingest. Operating on a large range of file formats and containers Tailor provides lossless video processing at unprecedented speed.

Tailor is an enabler for a wide range of new workflows such as program reformatting, file based drop-in / assemble edit and pre-edit ‘make list’ preparation. It provides significant opportunities to improve the speed and quality of many production workflows, and affords new efficiencies in operations for upstream functions such as bulk tape ingest. Tailor is also suited for program versioning for multi-channel delivery but it will also carry out operations on growing files and is ideal for file based editing during live recordings. Applications here include the creation of ‘in-game’ highlights packages during live sports events for delivery to mobile or tablet as part of a content owner’s OTT strategy.

Accessed through the BLAM browser based interface and using a browse version of an asset as a frame accurate reference, a user may mark sections of material to cut and splice. The Tailor plugin will copy the sections of the source essence files required to create the new file; the video frames are written to the target file without decompressing to baseband, so the process is lossless and incredibly fast.
