The Blue Lucy Metadata plug-in allows content metadata to exported from the BLAM and written to an essence file wrapper / container. Designed to producers and post production companies to easily create and deliver transmission-ready file based material which confirms to the AS-11 standard and DDP guidelines for file delivery.
The Digital Production Partnership’s AS-11 standard sets out the minimum core metadata specification for file-based contributions to UK broadcasters. Developed in conjunction with the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the vendor-neutral file format for finished material defines the essential metadata set and program segmentation information.
The Blue Lucy Metadata Injector plug-in is designed for use with Ingest and Transcode plug-ins, serving both linear and file based production respectively. The plug-in will inject producer-specific metadata into a .mxf wrapper following linear file write or file transcode. In the event that the source essence is already in the defined delivery format (D-10 /50 for SD and AVCi-100for HD), the plug-in will add the AS-11 metadata to the wrapper without decompressing the source material, so the process is lossless in terms of video processing.
Conforming to the AS-11 specification need not be a headache for the post production industry or playout service providers, and should not require dramatic changes to workflow or investment in expensive AS-11 specific products. The Metadata plug-in from Blue Lucy is the simplest and most cost effective solution writing data to essence wrappers and conforming to the AS-11 and DPP requirements.
